Thankfulness
1C enjoyed listening to “The Squirrels Thanksgiving” a perfect story for this time of the year. It reminded us about being thankful even for those people in our lives that make it a little difficult. It was a great opportunity to talk to our first graders about being thankful for our friends and siblings even if they are not 100% nice to us all the time. They really liked this story.
Story Time
The Pre-K class has enjoyed story time in the library this month. We read “How Do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon?” This was a perfect story especially at this time of the year when we all are prone to getting sick. The children enjoyed listening to the story and talking about their own feelings when they are sick and how we get better soon. We also discussed the steps we need to take to prevent illnesses from getting to us, for example washing our hands. The children also enjoy looking at books on their own after story time.

Old Testament Study
11th Grade is currently exploring the book of Exodus. Through looking at the plagues, passover, the exodus, and the giving of the law and the tabernacle, we continue to see the unfolding of God’s sovereign plan to save, preserve, and purify a special people, by his mighty power, for his own glory.

I AM…
12th Grade continues its survey of the New Testament. We are currently looking at the book of John, exploring the rich imagery of Jesus’ I Am statements. Jesus the Bread of Life; the Light of the World; the Door for the sheep; the Good shepherd; the Resurrection and the Life; the Way, the Truth, and the Life; and the Vine. It is our hope that the richness of these God-breathed names and their implications will inspire fresh devotion and impart new life.

Give Thanks
Finally, on Tuesday November 23 we had our thanksgiving feast. Everyone brought in different dishes and desserts. We all gave thanks for all the different things that God has blessed us with, and then enjoyed a delicious thanksgiving feast.

Spirit Week
The month of November was a busy and fun month. On the third week of November, we had our annual spirit week. Our kindergarten class had fun getting dressed up as pilgrims and Native Americans, as well as their favorite book characters. Even though, their favorite was pajama day, where everyone was nice and cozy with their PJs and slippers.

Microsoft Office
11th and 12th grade have just finished their first independent learning project, completing lessons and a final creative product in one of four Microsoft office programs. Their final products turned out wonderfully. During the second term, they will be working on assignments for Mr. Hernandez, our college preparation guidance counselor.

Microsoft Excel
To finish our long unit of study in Microsoft Excel, students in 8th through 10th grades completed a quiz that wrapped a sampling of all the skills they learned into one activity. Since the activity involved a college budget they also had the opportunity to think about living expenses when they go to college.

Mavis Beacon
6th and 7th are finishing a unit of Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing. We started by taking a preliminary speed test, then practiced for several weeks, and took another speed test. Many of the students improved greatly in their typing rates. They are on track to become the fastest typists around!
