We created an Indian trail in our classroom. The children were required to walk between two long pieces of string and keep their balance. Most of them walked forward, however, some made it more interesting when they decided to walk on one foot or walk the trail backwards.

After reading the story City Green, which was about a little girl helping to turn a vacant city lot into a neighborhood garden, reading lab students started their own flower garden in room 204. I am pleased to tell you our flowers are starting to grow. The students are very excited to see the green stems and leaves popping out of the soil.

Students are now working with percents and ratios. They continue to add on to the work they have already done with multi-step equations. Despite the frustration with the many steps to solve an equation, they seem to be grasping the concept. It is a pleasure to watch their face when they finally “get it.”
