We created an Indian trail in our classroom. The children were required to walk between two long pieces of string and keep their balance. Most of them walked forward, however, some made it more interesting when they decided to walk on one foot or walk the trail backwards.
Elementary is learning to play ABC on our recorders. We are also learning to conduct in 4/4, 3/4 and 2/4 time. This helps us feel the beat and helps us learn to lead.

Middle School is getting creative. We are using our writing skills to compose songs. Through writing, composing and arranging our song, we are learning about song structure and how to understand music when we listen to it.

1c has been exploring lobsters! We have been learning some very interesting details about these crustaceans. After we examined and discussed these creatures we put our thinking to work through drawings, number sentences and words, as we solved Lobster Picture Problems in groups and individually
After reading the story City Green, which was about a little girl helping to turn a vacant city lot into a neighborhood garden, reading lab students started their own flower garden in room 204. I am pleased to tell you our flowers are starting to grow. The students are very excited to see the green stems and leaves popping out of the soil.

We played a game called “Under the Flap”. The children needed to count the chicks and identify the corresponding numeral. This helped them understand number concepts and count the number of objects in a set. We are having lotd of fun leasrning in PreK-3.
Students have been working on how to record credits and debits for a business. They are learning the many journals that are kept and how much work goes into owning and maintaining a business.

Students are now working with percents and ratios. They continue to add on to the work they have already done with multi-step equations. Despite the frustration with the many steps to solve an equation, they seem to be grasping the concept. It is a pleasure to watch their face when they finally “get it.”

Students just completed another chapter. They will be working on data analysis and statistics for the month of February. This is a continuation from 6th grade math, with a little more added on.

Students will be working on fractions this month. They will be adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions and not to forget putting them into simplest form.
