There is little doubt that all have committed the sin of covetousness. Students in 6th grade learned about why the sin of covetousness (or jealousy) was wrong, and how this sin could hurt their relationship with other people.

Now that June is upon us the students have been working hard on getting ready for their Economics Final. We finished off discussing budgets and savings. The students will be making large decisions in the near future that will impact their future. Their test on this section was to write an essay discussing how they would invest and explaining why their choice was an example of a good investment. It has been fun to watch these students realize how what they are learning in class is important not only in the future but also now. I hope and pray that the students will have a wonderful summer and I wish them all the best as they go off to college.

Now that June is upon us the students have been working hard on getting ready for their Global Regents. The students have been reviewing geography, key terms, and how this all comes together. This has been such a fun and exciting year as I have gotten to know the students and we have gone through thousands of years worth of history. The students have performed exceptionally well and have shown me so much about history and how it relates to our lives. It has been my pleasure to be there teacher the past two years and I wish them all the best. I hope the students have a wonderful summer and I hope to visit them again sometime next year.

It has been an exciting year this year in Third grade. We have learned all about plants, bugs’ skeletons, and so much more in Science. In Bible we talked about three young boys, Joseph, Daniel, and the life of Abraham. In math we had a great time using all the math games and working with partners and showing all our strategies on the overhead. The reading program this year was fun and we even made bugs form a story about spiders. Yes, as you can see our year was jam packed with fun and learning. We used every opportunity for expericing fun and understanding through learning. Have a great and Blessed summer.

The 3rd graders had a final Social Studies project, where they had to present to the 2nd graders what they learned about the 50 States. Each student had to do their own research, find information and write it down and then draw the state. They were GREAT. In the process WE learned so much. The posters are in the 3rd grade classroom for all to view.

Kindergarten is very excited about the month of June. We are getting ready for the end of the year and our summer vacation. KV is excited to use their little readers from the classroom library center, and many kindergarteners are reading successfully!

Math is still in the air!
As we are bringing this years math instruction to an end,
we continue to explore:
Mondays Money: the class has been challenged to count sums of money well over a dollar.
Tuesdays Tally, Time and Temperature: Students move into telling time to the quarter hour.
Wednesdays Workout: we have been analyzing and extending a variety or growing and shrinking patterns. Thursdays Thinking: taps into children’s interest in big numbers as we race to 400 and spend $50.
Finally, Friday’s Challenge: continues to offer opportunities to see the children’s growing number sense.

We are looking forward to summer vacation. We all drew pictures and shared our summer plans! We also created great summer calendar markers in a pattern of three…. of the ocean, sun and fun!

The Read-at-Home program has ended. The top Pre-K 4 readers are: Joao Costa, 115 books; Christopher Gallardo, 85 books; and Nathan Dos Santos, 78 books. The class read a total of 880 books. Keep up that reading during the summer!
