Evangel Christian School has done an amazing job of working together in the days following Sandy’s aftermath.  There have been numerous clothing, food and supply donations brought in as well as monetary giving.  God has blessed our students to be able to hand out these donations first hand.  Our 10th, 11th and 12th grade students had the privilege of purchasing food through the numerous donations to cook for people in the lower east side of Manhattan who have been without power and are not able to purchase meats at this time because the main grocery store in the neighborhood has been so badly damaged.  They also were able to hand out all the clothes and canned food items that were brought in.  As soon as the tables were set up outside with all the clothes, blankets and supplies, people came from all the surrounding blocks and were thankful for all the blessings they received.  The students had the opportunity through three different days to feed around 1000 people in the neighborhood.  Our students worked so hard and many came back saying how the day of serving impacted them.

Evangel was also able to go to Coney Island Gospel Assembly to minister to those without power and water who are devastated. We were able to clean 300 bags of mud out of their basement. We were able to serve the food we made to nearly 500 volunteers. We were able to disinfect their entire church so they can now conduct services.

We were overwhelmed with the generosity from our school family.  Our parents and partners have gone “above and beyond” to make these outreaches  happen.  We continue to pray for those that have experienced loss. We are so happy that we are able to help and minister to those in need!

Evangel parents, staff and students also bought gifts for Hurricane Sandy Victims that were given out on December 23rd.
