Middle Ages
10th grade started the school year studying ancient Greece. They loved to read myths and had the chance to write some of their own. When we studied Rome, we focused on how Christianity changed from a persecuted faith to state religion and how that effected the Roman empire as well as the early church. Now we are in the depths of the Middle Ages. Students have created their own coat of arms, built models of castles and cathedrals, written songs as troubadours, and even drew their own version of a tapestry. By focusing on the culture of the time, history of 1000 years ago is able to become more real.
