Jewish Heritage Museum

Our 8th grade students had the privaliage of going to the Museum of Jewish Heritage.  Students were split into smaller groups and were taken throughout the museum with a tour guide.  One of the tour guides shared the story of how his grandmother met his grandfather and they moved to America.  Shortly after that, all his grandmother’s siblings were killed in the Holocaust.  This story, plus the many others shared, showed students how hatred hurt a whole generation of Jewish people.  It was also noted that the same number of students that are currently in New York City public schools were killed during the Holocaust.  This trip was eye opening not only for the students but adults as well to see how hate can change an entire nation.
