Algebra 2 / Trig
Juniors completed this year with regents review. They reviewed all concepts from September and then saw how many ways these concepts can be assessed. In this last quarter they learned about normal distributions, standard deviations, and series notation.

REDOX
Juniors finished this year with a study of REDOX reactions and acids and bases. They learned about red cat and an ox. They predicted which way electrons would flow in a cell. They also performed experiments to identify acid and bases. They soon discovered that many acids and bases are stored around their homes.

Modern Physics
Seniors spent this semester studying modern physics. They learned about quarks, the nature of light, and the early models of the atom. They then began their regents review. They were amazed at how easy mechanics looked the second time around.

Independent Study
Calculus students were amazing this year. Students completed an independent study. They had a minimum goal to reach each week, but they far exceeded that goal. Some students worked at an extremely fast pace because they wanted to learn as much material as possible before they entered college. Other students elected to work at a slower pace and to complete extra problems to make sure that they understood all the new concepts presented this year. All students learned how to use a math text as a resource and to take ownership of their own learning. They practiced skills that will serve them well in college.

¡Llegamos al fín del año!
It was a literature-filled year with new vocabulary extracted from renown novels such as El CID Campeador and the mischievous doings of Lazarillo de Tormes. The highlight of our year was at a Peruvian infused restaurant, Pio Pio, where fellowship, culture, language, and laughter combined to bring closure to Spanish language acquisition within the classroom; though Spanish cultural and language growth remain for a lifetime. It was an honor journeying with you through language. Blessings,
Sra Jean-Pierre
¡Llegamos al fín del año!
What a wonderfully fun-filled year it has been for this year’s Level 3 Spanish. Students continued to solidify the bridge of Spanish communication through verbal practice and immersion, while essays and PowerPoint presentations increased their ability to construct phrases and expression through written form. Cultural highlight included a trip to El Museo del Barrio to view and write about the Tres Reyes exhibit, as well as fun fellowship through Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Looking forward to next year as we delve deeper into Spanish culture through literature.

¡Llegamos al fín del año!
Learning about the past is crucial, especially when it’s in Spanish. From preterit past-tense forms, to the ongoing/habitual imperfect past tense, students are introduced to patterns building from the English language and scaffolding onto the language they know. All this, while learning about the various cultures of Spanish-speaking countries, as well as the positive Spanish-American influences within our country. Looking forward to growing with you as you continue to solidify the bridge of Spanish communication.

¡Llegamos al fín del año!
This year, 8th Grade was introduced to conjugation forms of regular, irregular, and stem-changing verbs in the present tense. As cultural highlights included comparing and contrasting differences between American football and fútbol (soccer), we also delved into, and became enthralled by, a small community in an isolated section of Colombia where students were required to take a zip-line as a form of daily travel to school. With Middle School’s foundational Spanish completed, the fun has just begun, as High School field trips including theater, restaurants, and museums will take learning the culture and Spanish language to a whole new level. Looking forward to it.

¡Llegamos al fín del año!
From comparing schools in the Spanish-speaking world to ours, and contrasting between the Sweet 16 and Quinceañera celebrations, and the varying aspects within Spanish language itself, it was an amazing culturally-filled year. The best is yet to come. See you next year as we continue to tackle verb conjugations, and form sentences and phrases in Spanish. Looking forward to it.

¡Llegamos al fín del año!
This year, 6th Grade was introduced to the wonderful world of Spanish. Through Beginner Spanish, they have learned new vocabulary relating to restaurants and cafés, school supplies, seasons, months of the year, days of the week, numbers, and so much more. Foods and cultural highlights were brought forth in tangible ways as we celebrated Hispanic Heritage months, Cinco de Mayo and las fiestas del año. The journey has just begun as we continue our journey into the Spanish-speaking world next year. Looking forward to it
