Readers Workshop
Readers Workshop is a new class that has been incorporated into our curriculum this year. It is made up of 22 minutes of Independent reading time were our students read on their own at their own levels. The Next 22 minutes are made up of Reading Response time where students listen to a piece of literature and respond to a Focus question based on the reading in their Reading Response Journals. It is amazing to see how our students are connecting and responding to literature. For our read aloud this month we read Chicken Sunday by Patricia Polacco which our class truly enjoyed.

Creation
Bible time is one of our favorites of the day since we learn about God’s truth. For this month we have been focusing on trusting God’s promises because God does not lie, and whatever He promised us He will give us. We have also learned about the promise of Heaven that God has made to us. The promise that someday we will live with Him in Heaven. After learning about His promises we have started to focus on how he created all things and how we are his creation. We have focused on the 6 days of creation and what He created on each one of those days. It is awesome to learn about God’s word.

In Science we have looked at properties of soil. Students examined clay soil, sand soil, and potting soil. They examined texture, color, nutrient value and porosity. Then we planted radish seeds in these three different types of soil, it has been exciting to see how our plants grow in these types of soil.

Students also created Beetle Glyphs to represent data about themselves such as their birthday, their favorite season and how many family members they have living with them. They came up with some beautiful creations.
