Kindergarten has been listening to many stories in the library. They have also continued to look and try to read books on their own. They liked the story The Handiest Things in the World, by Andrew Clements. This is an amazing book that talks about all the activities that we may perform with our hands.

The Big Red Tub
Pre-k: Our pre-kindergarteners have enjoyed their library time with Mrs. Vera. She has read several books to them throughout this month. Mrs. Vera also allows them to explore books on their own. They especially enjoyed listening to The Big Red Tub.

End of year
5th Grade is in research mode. Our students are using their research skills in the library to work and complete their state books. These are a part of their end of year Social Studies project. I am glad that the Library is here to assist them in the process.

4th grade has continued to listen to parts of our book, Ideas that Changed the World. Our students love technology so they are amazed to hear how inventions like the computer and the cell phone emerged and have become so popular and necessary to our everyday lives.

God loves us
Our 1st and 2nd graders enjoyed listening to The Tallest of Smalls, by Max Lucado. A wonderful story that reminded our students that they are special in their own special way. Even if we are small or we feel like we don’t fit in, to God we still matter and He loves us no matter what.

Kindergarten had a wonderful time listening to a story by Max Lucado, Because I love You. It was a story that reminds us about God’s love for us and why He made rules to keep us safe. They also had an opportunity to look at books on their own and tried to sound out the words.

How do you feel?
Pre-k enjoyed listening to the story, Bear feels Sick. It was a cute story about being sick and what we can do to feel better. It also dealt with how to be a good friend and help out when others are sick. We talked about how we can prevent getting sick and how we feel when we do get sick.

Escaping the Giant Wave
Our 5th graders have continued to listen to Escaping the Giant Wave. We are now getting to the best part. They have also continued to borrow books and work on their SRA’s when we don’t have a read aloud session.

Technology
The 4th graders enjoyed listening to bits and pieces from our new book, Ideas that Changed the World. This is a book that talks about technology and how things have evolved into the complex machines we now have. We talked about the cell phone and how they believe it will evolve in the future to the extent that cell phones will be placed in our teeth.

Sharing
Honey, honey ….Lion is the book that we focused on with our third graders. This is an extremely funny story about a bird and a badger that gets tricked into a position were he ends up face to face with a Lion all for not sharing his honey. We discussed the importance of being a good friend and sharing.
