What are you thankful for?

During our Thanksgiving feast, we had an opportunity to bring in our favorite food and share it with the class. The kids had fun setting the tables and eating lunch together. We even got an opportunity to share with each other about things we were thankful for.

Fun Exploring Numbers

Number Corner time has been a challenge as we are trying to have fun with numbers exploring ways to get to 10, 12, 15. Learning time, measuring, hundreds- adding and subtracting on the hundreds grid, learning about new patterns on the calendar chart are all things we are learning.

Creating New Stories

Our Spelling words have been taking us to exciting places! We are now learning to juggle our thoughts together as we create our own stories using our new words. The girls are really enjoying this.

The Ants Go Marching On

During Math time we studied the ants as we were learning about Word Problems. Second Graders had so much fun, not only learning about the life of the ant, but in actually making their own ant story problem. They had to write out a word story problem, write the number sentences to match the problem and then illustrate it by using cut out ants in their ant holes. This was all done on individual sheets as each child got to share their problem with the class and have it displayed on the bulletin board. We had so much fun.

“Christmas Hang Ups”

“Christmas Hang Ups,” the title of our elementary program this year was another take on what Christmas is really about.  Our students told a story through the eyes of Christmas ornaments.  It showed us how we get “hung up” on so many things, other than the true meaning of Christmas.  The students sang, danced, and acted out the true meaning of Christmas.  It was a great night filled with great joy of our Savior coming to this earth, Jesus Christ, and there were over 500 in attendance

Please see “Galleries” for some great pictures.

Fun Fridays

We do this every Friday. Show and Tell is fun because we get a chance to bring a toy from home and share it with the class. We get to tell about the toy that we brought. Sometimes we don’t get to bring a toy, but that’s okay. Show and Tell is something fun that the class does.

Where are you from?

International week was exciting! We each got to write about our country and present it to our classmates. They even had an opportunity to wear the colors of their flags. They loved this because it gave them a chance to show off their clothes. Sharing their favorite food from their country was also a blast. The kids were really happy to know about their friends backgrounds and try new foods. It was very interesting.

Math Quilt

Imagine making a quilt in Math class! Yes we did, not with the traditional piece of fabric, but with paper! Orange squares, red triangles and green rectangles. Each child had their own squares to work on. They glued the different shapes of paper together on their square. The most exciting part came when the kids had to join each square together as we made one big quilt.
