Pre-K 4 continues to be a fun and busy place. We have learned up to the number 5 and made sheep out of our hands! Maybe in November we will get up to the number 10! We created our own picturess using just rectangles. Our Oscar Ovals looked silly with beards, musaches and funny-colored hair. We played real triangles and colored and cut out diamonds.

Greetings again from the Middle School and High School Resource Room!

We just finished “Back-to-School Night” for both middle and high school and I had a great time meeting both new and old parents. It looks like Resource is on it’s way to working at facilitating team effort between teacher, parent and student. The parents I met are active in their child’s education and will be a great mix of help, accountability and encouragement to them. The time with them was both informative and important for student success. Our concentration with the students this month is on self-management and productivity in class. Note taking skills are revisited and expounded on to improve student notes as a tool for studying for tests. We have a lot to look forward to as God’s plan for each student unfolds.

PK-3_ Kin and 1st grade trips to Green Meadows Farm 009

Trips To Green Meadows Farm

Our Prek3, KV and 1st Grade classes went on field trips to the Green Meadows Farm. At the farm, students were able to feed the sheep and goats, pet baby chicks and guinea pigs and chase after chickens. The highlights of the trip for many of our students was being able to go on a pony ride.  Students were treated to a  funny puppet show and before leaving the farm, each student was able to pick his or her own pumpkin to take home. Students and volunteers all had a wonderful time at the Green Meadows Farm and look forward to visiting again!

This year began with a BANG!! Students had a chance to get to know each other and come together as a community of learners as they began to explore the Spanish language. We have been focusing on several topics such as: describing people, school subjects, numbers and telling time in Spanish. Verb conjugations and class conversations has also been an emphasis in order to develop good speaking skills. The class is very eager to learn!

In September we started the school year with a great excitement as to what we would learn this year.! The first few weeks of class, we focused on reviewing what the students had learned the prior year to get a better handle on the upcoming lessons. The textbook we are using is called “Buen Viaje” and we have already covered the chapters dealing with, school supplies, friends and family, sports, travel, vacationing and health. There is also a focus on both vocabulary and verb structure. The class is doing well!
