In 7th grade math, we are discussing operations on fractions. The students have impressed me with how quickly they are catching on to this challenging material. I have let several of them try out my new SMART board, which is a great tool in the classroom.

We began our first day thinking about our thoughts, which are our private mental processes. We have been discussing human behavior and trying to understand why we are the way we are. There are several reasons why humans behave in certain ways and psychologist have been studying this, many years. We are now moving into chapter 2 which discusses psychological research methods.

Welcome to the world of poetry! We are developing a poetry portfolio through out the entire first quarter. We have been discussing several topics including our personal hero’s. On back to school night parents will see that the majority of the students have chosen their moms or dad. Thumbs up to the parents who have sacrificed to put their children in our school. You have influenced your own children and it shows in the classroom.

We learned about Adam and Eve in the Bible, and that God wants us to obey Him, our moms and dads, and our teachers. We are learning to say Gen. 1:31, Col 3:20 and Gen 9:13. We worship and pray together every day.

When we learned the letter “f” we had a very special event. We had a Funny Feet Day.” We brought slippers from home and put them on in school. Then we marched to different classes in the school and sang a song about our Funny Feet. The other classes liked hearing our song. Even the teachers wore silly slippers. We made brown gorillas and decorated them with chocolate chips and dry coffee grounds. Our class smelled good! Our orange pumpkins decorated the hallway bulletin board. We made frog puppets and an elephant on a stick.
