Students are learning about expressions and equations this month. Not only are they solving problems, but they are learning how to read equations in “word” form and write out an expression or equation. I am very proud of all of our 6th graders.

Elementary students are celebrating Spring! They are making colorful collages of the spring season using construction paper and tissue paper. You should see the wonderful creations they have made using these two mediums. Way to Go!

Middle School is working on Mood Paintings. Students are choosing a word that describes a feeling and are painting an abstract picture using brush strokes and colors to portray the mood. Middle Schoolers are having a great time choosing colors and words.

Evangel’s Freshman class has travelled along the exciting road that Ted Dekker paved for them. They thoroughly enjoyed reading Blink of an Eye’s action packed plot, memorable characters, and engaging themes. They continue to explore the manner in which Dekker employed the literary elements in his work and will put their critical thinking skills to the test through Socratic discussion and literary analysis!

We have been reading the books ” I’m Gonna Like Me” and ” Just The Way You Are”. It’s wonderful to see that our second graders like themselves! These books reinforce how important it is to accept ourselves for who we are and to love, truly love, ourselves. Now our second graders are “letting off a little self esteem”! Way to go 2nd Grade!

Second Grade took a tour of the United States when preparing for the Academic Fair. They had the opportunity to demonstrate all of their academic abilities. They expressed how much fun they had working with their families to get their projects completed. They were also enthusiastic about presenting their projects in front of the class. They did an amazing job!

Our weekly current events has been interesting! The students are reading the newspaper every weekend or looking up articles on the Internet, and each week they are eager to share with the class what they’ve learned. Through this project we have been able to discuss what is happening in the world. In addition, they get the opportunity to see their work posted on our Writing Center Bulletin Board.
Preparing for the Social Studies Academic Fair was an exicting experience for our second graders as well. We have been studying the state of New York and our kids are fascinated by Times Square and the Statue of Liberty, especially since many of us come from different parts of the world.

Math continues to be fun by working with base-ten; this lends to the creativity of our picture problems! Second grade is flourishing in their problem solving!
