We have been studying the book of Genesis, the book of beginnings. The students had to do a project delineating the descendants of Abraham down to Jacob’s children and write facts about each person. The projects the students made are impressive. Many of them testify they were able to put in perspective the different stories they had learned from young, others learned them for the first time. Isn’t it great!
We are looking forward to learn about the exodus and the worship of the people of Israel. We will discuss the tabernacle, the feasts/festivals, and the sacrifices and how they all point to Jesus.

We planned to present at chapel on December 19. The students came up with a game they called “Biblionaire” (after “Who wants to be a millionaire”) to encourage everyone to learn and test their knowledge of the Bible, and have fun doing it. Many things were changed at the last minute, and everything that could go wrong, did. We decided we were not going to be discouraged and prayed that God take control over all that had to be done and trusted in Him. The students in chapel enjoyed the game and had fun, which was what the students set out to do. We praise God for this and because he brought us through.

7th grade has been discussing how to become Christ like. At this age it is very critical to help build their character, but more importantly Godly character. Our next lesson is going to be on Honesty. Some questions that we will discuss will be, who is the father of lies? How does our honesty affect our relationship with others? What are the consequences of dishonesty? My prayer for these students is that their actions and entire being will just be a reflection of Jesus. Our theme has been ” They will know we are Christians by our love.” I am so blessed to have your children in my Bible class, and I am very excited for this New Year!

10th grade has been discussing the differences between being a disciple and believer of Jesus. Some questions that I have challenged the students with have been, what does is take to be a Christian? What does Christ expect from us? What does God hate? And how do we step forward toward becoming an effective leader? I am so blessed to have your children in my Bible class. They have a firm grasp on the basics of their faith, so my goal is to help bring more maturity and understanding to them. My prayer is for these students to have a true relationship with Jesus so that when they face the real world they will not be shaken. Our next lesson will be based on the B-Attitudes and I am excited to see these characteristics to be portrayed in their lives in this New Year!
For the past two months our 9th graders have been studying the foundations of their faith. We have discussed questions such as why is the Bible the inspirational word of God? How did we get our Bible? Where are the original manuscripts and can we believe them? These questions have sparked curiosity and interest into why we believe what we believe and how we can make it applicable. Our next lesson will cover the symbols of the bible such as a lamp and fire so the students will understand that the Bible is to instruct and guide them in this world. It has been a blessing to teach your children. My prayer for these students is that God will truly reveal Himself to them at a young age, so that they will have a firm foundation of their faith, which will ultimately prepare them for this world.
This month we took a trip to a Spanish restaurant in Queens called “La Portena”.
The students were able to practice their vocabulary learned in class, since we are currently
studying a chapter called “El Restaurante”. The kids had a great time and the food was mucho gusto!!

3G has chosen to follow the theme of non-fiction books about animals. They are borrowing one book that talks about animals and one of their choosing. It is important that they learn to read this type of non-fiction so that they can learn to research and learn new information. Third grade is also very excited about the Scholastic “Kids are Authors Contest”; they have decided to start writing their own book and with God’s help they will finish it and we will submit it. In your prayers remember to pray about this class and this project; I know that anything and everything is possible with the Lord’s help.

2nd Grade: Class 2B is enjoying the privilege of borrowing two books per weekfrom the Library. They are following the theme of borrowing one Christian book and one of their own choosing. I told them that during the Christmas Break it is a great opportunity to read or have their family read those Christian books to them, so that they can minister to them through this wonderful literature. This is a special time of the year when we get to celebrate our savior’s birth, and what could be more wonderful than sharing such great news with those that do not know Him!!!

During December we have enjoyed sharing our talents in Christmas programs that portrayed the true meaning of Christmas; we have found encouragement from secret angels; and have even enjoyed the first real snow of the season. Students can learn that they have the ability to bless others and can give the gift of themselves. James 1 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth that we might be a kind of first fruits of all He created”. I pray that the Christmas break brings many blessings to each family. We certainly have God’s goodness to look forward to in the New Year.

We recently took a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and looked at world art throughout the Renaissance and Early Modern periods. We are moving through the 18th and 19th centuries to the present, Modern world.
