To end the year, we went on a trip to Green Meadows Farm in Bayside. We had a blast! Not only did we get to learn about different cultures, but we also got to see different animals. The highlight of the trip was chasing after the chickens. What a day!

Math became more fun playing with the many manipulatives. It was astonishing to see the student’s excitement when they got to see and feel and touch toy bugs to do addition and subtraction. They had so much fun doing “Bugs in the Garden” and making their won Math problems.

As the Phonics and Spelling became more challenging, First Grade was still excited about reading. This led us to visit the Town Hall to see a play about Junnie B. Jones. Students really enjoyed reading about her and actually looking at a live performance. They were so captivated by the actors in the play that they “re-enacted” the play on the way back to school. What fun we had!

Our study of Science led us to “Wonderful Rocks.” As we observed how different they were, we were able to relate them to us, and how God made each on of us different and special. The students really enjoyed our science experiments. When the baking soda was added to the vinegar in the test tube…1B exploded and shouted and screamed!

In Social Studies, we learned about how privileged we are in the United States and even in our classroom to be blessed with the freedom to worship, to voice our opinions, to work and to make choices. Some of our little ones even shared that their parents left Brazil to come to America to find better jobs to make more money!

What a wonderful time we had as we studied the Bible and God’s principles of giving, loving, forgiving and caring for others. First Grade tried their best to adhere to what they learned from God’s Word. They were really amazed when Jesus fed the 5,000 with 3 loaves of bread and 5 fish. Mark even said “Let’s try it…and see if God would multiply our juice so everyone can get some.”

Evangel Christian School
National Honor Society & National Junior Honor Society
Induction and Recognition Ceremony
May 29, 2008 7:00pm

This was a beautiful candlelighting ceremony where we recognized 30 NHS members and inducted 9 new NHS members. There were 16 NJHS members that were recognized and 26 new NJHS members were inducted. The four High School Officers each read about one of the four characteristics that represent the National Honor Society. All new inductees were pinned. 12th and 8th grade officers received Honor Cords, and all seniors received Honor Stoles to be worn at gradauation. The members and new inductees pledged to always honor the Truth of God. Candles were then lit by Seniors and all members marched down the aisle. We are very proud of all of our members.

Each group must work on a project in which they reach out to the community. NJHS raised money for autism and actually got to meet the little girl they raised money to help. NHS raised money to purchase clothes and toys and delivered them to a single mother’s shelter. Each group was truly blessed to be able to reach out and share God’s love.

As “Pomp and Circumstance” began to play there wasn’t a “dry eye in the house”. hs-program-2008 Twenty-four seniors walked down the aisle to recieve their diplomas. This truly is a very special twelfth grade class. There were over 500 people in attendance and excitement was “definitely in the air.” Our Dance Instructor, Isabel Rosario, danced to the song “In Christ Alone”. As she danced we were reminded: “In Christ alone, I place my trust, and find my glory in the power of the cross. In every victory, let it be said of me, ‘my source of strength, my source of hope, is Christ alone.'” Mr. Prawel, their homeroom teacher, shared an awesome message with the graduates. Students were challenged to honor the Lord in all that they do. They were also challenged to “be a light” wherever they may go. Awards were given 2008-hs-awardsand diplomas received. Each graduate was given their very own Bible, embossed with their name, as a gift. Valedicatoirian, Jennifer Wong, and Salutatorian, Andrea Basto, also challenged the class and “spurred them on in the Lord.” Paul Rezkalla, the Class Representative, lit the class candle signifying carrying Jesus with them. God was truly glorified at this graduation.

We love you and we will miss you dearly. We pray God’s bleassing over you as you go.

How cute they looked – all eighteen graduates – in their little blue graduation hats. The room was filled with parents and grandparents “snapping photos like crazy”. The students sang two songs and recited a verse. Awards were given and then special awards were given such as: having a happy heart, being an awesome prayer, being a good friend, having a kind heart, etc. At the very end the graduates wanted to sing “On Top of Spahetti” for the audience. All the graduates were given a helium filled fish balloon attached to a pail filled with sand and seashells. They were the cutest ever!

June 24 – 7:00pm Grades 6-12

What an incredible evening with over 360 in attendance. What a great time we had honoring our students academic achievements. Each year we center our Banquet around a theme. This year our theme was “Finding a pearl of great price”. The Fellowship Hall was”decked our” in an underwater theme. It looked fantastic! Students need only achieve Honor Roll status for one quarter to be honored. It was Italian night as we feasted on all types of pasta: Stuffed Shells, Pasta Primavera, Lasagne, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Baked Ziti, Pasta and Broccoli, Tri Color Pasta Salad and Rolls. Mmmmm Good! 127 Trophies were given out in 6 different categories. Pastor addressed us and spurred us onward. He also shared that we would begin to build the new High School in the Spring. A cheer went up from the crowd and all glory was given to the Lord.
