Words of Encouragement
Don’t measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability.
John Wooden.
Often we look at our accomplishments with such admiration, that we fail to realize that we could have done so much more with the gifts that God has given us. These athletes have so much God given talent. The challenge this year is getting them to look beyond their immediate accomplishments and pushing them to accomplish what they are fully capable of.

Boys Volleyball
Only the second year into our Boys Varsity Volleyball Program & our boys continue to impress. Coached by alumni Daniel Herrera, the Eagles took 3rd place with a record of 7-3. Lead by senior captains Jonathan Bonifas & Emerson Calvi as well as junior Geordan Gibson, the Eagles were a team to be dealt with this year. We are anxiously waiting the start of the next year.

Season Champions
As the season approached us, the excitement for baseball’s return to Evangel was so strong that it was hard not to expect great things. And as the head coach, I can say our Eagles did accomplish great things. We came into the season with many questions about how we would look as a team and how the competition would be in our league. We finished in first place (Season Champions) with an 8-2 record. In the semi-finals we fought hard and received 2nd Place by an extra inning game to Brooklyn Friends. To add to our teams success, our captain Ronald Barillas was honored with the league MVP award.
In our teams very first meeting, I told them I was looking for a group of guys who would help me build the foundation to a successful high school baseball program that honors the Lord. As I look forward to the upcoming season, I say proudly that Evangel Christian School is now running a respected baseball program that gives all the glory to God.
Giving all the glory to Jesus Christ,
Coach Berrios
