In 9th grade Algebra, we have been discussing real numbers. We have learned of their properties and about some of the interesting things real numbers can (and can’t) do. We will take a test on Wednesday and begin solving linear equations.

We began our first day thinking about our thoughts, which are our private mental processes. We have been discussing human behavior and trying to understand why we are the way we are. There are several reasons why humans behave in certain ways and psychologist have been studying this, many years. We are now moving into chapter 2 which discusses psychological research methods.

Welcome to the world of poetry! We are developing a poetry portfolio through out the entire first quarter. We have been discussing several topics including our personal hero’s. On back to school night parents will see that the majority of the students have chosen their moms or dad. Thumbs up to the parents who have sacrificed to put their children in our school. You have influenced your own children and it shows in the classroom.

Greetings again from the Middle School and High School Resource Room!
We just finished “Back-to-School Night” for both middle and high school and I had a great time meeting both new and old parents. It looks like Resource is on it’s way to working at facilitating team effort between teacher, parent and student. The parents I met are active in their child’s education and will be a great mix of help, accountability and encouragement to them. The time with them was both informative and important for student success. Our concentration with the students this month is on self-management and productivity in class. Note taking skills are revisited and expounded on to improve student notes as a tool for studying for tests. We have a lot to look forward to as God’s plan for each student unfolds.

This year began with a BANG!! Students had a chance to get to know each other and come together as a community of learners as they began to explore the Spanish language. We have been focusing on several topics such as: describing people, school subjects, numbers and telling time in Spanish. Verb conjugations and class conversations has also been an emphasis in order to develop good speaking skills. The class is very eager to learn!
