Global History at Evangel not only allowed students to explore the past, but equipped students to become critical and analytical thinkers. Our sessions enabled students to ask appropriate essential questions allowing thought-provoking discussions amongst students and peers. This resulted in healthy discussions of debate from all walks of life, culture, beliefs, and lifestyles in order to create well-rounded individuals to make ethical choices in their own lives.
Mr. Keeks
This year 11 and 12th grade English class focused on American Literature and British Literature. Both grades were reading novels in different eras, but one of values that I wanted to instill in both grade levels was the importance of writing. I had students keep a reading journal which allowed them to respond to the different literature we were reading. I assigned several tasks to the students in these journals that allowed them to explore the different types of writing styles that can be used to respond to literature like essays, creative writing and answering analytical questions. It was a pleasure to see students not only become better writers, but grow as critical thinkers and be able to apply the skills they learned in my class to their other classes as well.

Forensics Science is a very hands on class. Some of the focus areas of this course are: crime scene investigation, the nature of evidence, patterns and impressions, forensics biology, forensics chemistry and legal aspects of forensic science. The highlights in class this year for the students were learning to lift and dust fingerprints and solve a mock crime using the information collected from the prints. As well as learning to recreate possible crime scenes based on different blood spatter patterns.
Miss Kemp
This year, tenth grade students studied the English Restoration & Neoclassicism, Victorian England, Realism, and Naturalism. We read classics like King Lear, Robinson Crusoe, Oliver Twist, and Uncle Tom’s Cabin. Some highlights included discussion of paradoxes, debating the stations of life and nature versus nurture, and writing a Regents-level Critical Lens Essay using the following quotation: “It is the responsibility of the writer to expose our grievous faults and failures and to hold up to the light our dark and dangerous dreams for the purpose of improvement.” (John Steinbeck)

L. King, Jr.)

Shark Tank Meets High School Entrepreneurs
High School students created their own businesses. Our young entrepreneurs opened up a variety of creative businesses. From barber shops to book stores, from coffee shops to restaurants and more! It was interesting to see students take a hobby, interest, or something they were truly passionate about and turn it into a dream career. Once they had a carefully thought out business plan they designed a PowerPoint Presentation where they were able to approach the “sharks” (their classmates) in order to propose an investment from them.

United Nations
The highlight of this past year was then the High School dance elective got invited to the United Nations to minister in dance. Someone saw what the students did for the spring show they wanted them to do it at U. N. What an awesome time and what an experience it was for the students. It was such a blessing for all. They even invited us back to perform again in the fall. Praise the Lord for open doors.
Ms. Rosario
The students danced to One way (hip hop), Mighty To Save with flags, and How We Love with dancers and flags. For the Spring Program we combined MS and HS. They danced to Now Behold The Lamb, Lord Your Holy and Holy Visitation with sign language, flags, and hip hop dance.

Preparing for College
12th grade English students spent their year on in-depth discussion and writing based on their reading of 3 major works of literature: Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth, and C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters. They also practiced academic writing skills to prepare them for college through two extended research projects.
