KV Apartments

Celebrating our Academic Fair KV turned our classroom into a diverse apartment complex inspired by the book Mama Provi’s Pot of Rice, by Silvia Rosa-Casanova. Everything from our bulletin board decorated with cooking pots and wooden spoons to our welcome mat captivated guests into our adorned classroom apartment complete with miniature apartments within. Parents and students went around visiting each miniature apartment observing and sampling delicious cultural diverse dishes as well as complete recipes made by our students. We were a hit in the words of Mama Provi En un por dos tres.

Friendship Letters

KV displayed Jesus’ abundant love for each one of us by sharing special friendship letters with those closest to us. These letters were filled with glitter, lovely colors of pink and red but most of all lots of love. We topped our gifts of love off with our unique creation of heart shaped cats equip with all the essentials and topped off with several small hearts making a unique tail. KV also showcased our acting skills this month in a short skit in Chapel displaying how special we are to Jesus even when we feel as though we have nothing to offer God does and HE LOVES US!

Math is Fun

KV welcomes the New Year seeing Math in a fresh new way by taking a fresh look at patterns in the connection with Math. By observing objects in our surroundings and recreating those objects with our pattern blocks. KV created objects such as blocks then counted and recorded each block and color used! Math became a fun game both exciting and creative! Jump on board with us and start seeing Math in a fresh new way!

Relay Races

The students did relay races with obstacle courses. First they ran a regular race with batons. Then we added hurdles, hula hoops, and finally an obstacle that they slid under. After they did all of them separately, we add all three obstacle courses together. Students had to step through the hoop, hop over the hurdle and then slide under. The students enjoy it.

Muscle Builders

The students have been working out their muscles. After our warm up exercises, we worked out our muscles to make them strong. They would do pushups and tug a war with their legs. They used their hands and feet to make a bridge. Then the students would lay on their stomach and try to touch their head with their toe.

Hands

Kindergarten has been listening to many stories in the library. They have also continued to look and try to read books on their own. They liked the story The Handiest Things in the World, by Andrew Clements. This is an amazing book that talks about all the activities that we may perform with our hands.

God loves us

Kindergarten had a wonderful time listening to a story by Max Lucado, Because I love You. It was a story that reminds us about God’s love for us and why He made rules to keep us safe. They also had an opportunity to look at books on their own and tried to sound out the words.

Learning to read

KV and KT have enjoyed their library time. This month we read the story of Officer Bucle and Gloria, a funny story about safety and how to keep safe. They have also taken advantage of looking at our new books and trying to sound out the words, I can tell they will become great readers soon.
